Product info
An effective method of sealing & densifying timber, and stopping mould. Penetrates deeply into the timber then sets hard. Ideal for rotten areas that can be rebuilt rather than replaced. An excellent barrier coating for all marine situations. Use for sealing timber in home building areas where timber might rot. Contains a broad-spectrum biocide which inhibits ALGAL, FUNGAL, and YEAST micro organisms. (A coatings specific biocide that is considered NOT eco toxic as it is biodegradable below the minimum inhibitory concentration). Overcoat with all paint systems after it is thoroughly dry, provided the surface is sanded and degreased. It can be used as a top coat in interior situations and saturates all clean dry timbers. Exterior applications should be over coated with single pack alkyd or two pack urethane systems to avoid ultra violet surface chalking. Unfilled very low viscosity resin and hardener of clear honey colour. Designed for multiple coating to achieve a full impermeable surface barrier. Timber to be treated must be clean and dry. Degrease oily timbers such as teak, if necessary. Check suitability of treated timbers with the timber supplier. May be thinned for initial coating with epoxy solvent, up to 10% by volume. This will assist penetration. Successive coats should be applied “neat”. Allow each coat to “tack off” before next coat is applied. If previous coat is completely cured, then thoroughly sand with 180-280 grit sandpaper before re-application. Approximately three coats will be required for effective sealing of the timber. Once cured, fill low areas and joints with EPOXYBOG, sand smooth, fibreglass, if necessary, and top coat. CAUTION: This is not a gap filling product. If over coating with a paint system, priming is not required. Coverage When applied directly to bare timber, without diluting, coverage should exceed ten square metres per litre. Subsequent coats will not soak in to the same extent and will cover up to 50% greater area. (15 square metres.) The diluted mixture will extend the coverage rate slightly per mixed litre. Do not attempt to put on heavy coats as the mixture will sag. Cleanup Use epoxy solvent to remove uncured or partially cured resin mixture from brushes and rollers. Use disposable containers and stirring spatulae.
